HOW STUPID CAN PEOPLE BE?

Well, today with the help of two of my servers we stopped an attempted Dine and Dash.( For those of you who may not be familiar with the term, it means to eat in a restaurant and leave without paying) 3 or 4 stupid kids came into my restaurant tonite, ate, and when one of my servers went to get them refills on their pop, three of them took off without paying, while one of them left 10 dollars. The bill was 45, or something like that. We did not catch the three who didn't pay, but we did get the guy who did pay.... we hung on to him, kept him in the restaurant. Tried to reason with him to pay the rest of the bill, he said he didn't have any money... so we talked to him some more, saying we want to keep the cops out of it, but we need the money... etc etc.... he said his friends were gone, on the bus, and they weren't coming back, and then 5 minutes later, he said they were waiting for him in the car... so we knew.. he was lying............ we encircled him so he couldn't leave the restaurant, without running one of us over..... :)After about 30 minutes of explaining to him, that we needed the rest of the money, from him, his friends or his parents... or we would be calling the cops.... and him argueing back .. saying it wasn't his fault etc etc..... I finally lost patience, and said... that's it, I"m calling the cops... i walked to the phone, when all of a sudden he "remembered" he had his debit card, and paid for the bill. Seriously... what jerk. this all could have been avoided.................
